Commonwealth Games Village awash with exuberant colours, catching the public eye

THE SCAFFOLDING IS COMING DOWN AND THE VIBRANT COLOURS IN THE ARCHITECTURE OF THE PARKLANDS PROJECT ARE BEING REVEALED AS THE CONSTRUCTION PHASE OF THE LEGACY WORKS EDGES TOWARDS COMPLETION.

Archipelago director, Peter Edwards, met with a number of interested media parties at the Parkland’s site on Tuesday 21 February, including the Gold Coast Bulletin and television’s Channel 7 and Channel 9 news teams. He described the project, a joint venture between Arkhefield, ARM, and Archipelago for Grocon, as a tribute to the Gold Coast’s colourful history.

‘We would like to think the work we’ve done captures an important moment in history for the Gold Coast of a new and confident city, a grown up city, a city that defines itself as a place of sun, skyscrapers, abundant natural beauty, global events and glamorous hedonism.’ Peter Edwards, in the Gold Coast Bulletin, pp.4-5.

Construction of the legacy works is expected to be completed by September 2017.
