A community asset integrating high performance excellence with grassroots access and major event capability
Archipelago is proud to be supporting Australia’s peak aquatic sports bodies - Swimming Australia, Diving Australia, Water Polo Australia and Artistic Swimming Australia in establishing the vision for the National Aquatics Centre (NAC).
The NAC is set to become Australia’s leading aquatics venue, integrating high-performance excellence with grassroots accessibility and major event capabilities. Designed to address Brisbane’s outdated aquatic infrastructure, it provides a long-term solution to support the growth of aquatic sports and the broader community.
Key highlights of the proposal:
• World-class design: Three new pools, two diving towers and supporting amenities for training, competition, and community use, developed adjacent to and integrated with the heritage-listed Centenary Pool at Spring Hill.
• Celebrate and build on heritage values: Centenary Pool is Brisbane’s first Olympic standard pool and diving complex, with important heritage value for the city and aquatic sports. It is planned to be restored and renewed as an important part of the centre.
• High-performance hub: A home for national centres of excellence in swimming, diving, water polo, and artistic swimming, while attracting major international events currently beyond Queensland’s reach.
• Legacy-focused: While ideal for the Brisbane 2032 Games, the NAC is essential to meet current and future community needs, ensuring Queensland’s aquatic sports thrive for decades.
• Cultural heartland: The NAC will deliver a lasting physical connection to the 2032 Games that inspires community participation and future generations of athletes who will train in the same venue as Australia’s 2032 heroes for decades to come.
The NAC represents more than just infrastructure; it is a strategic investment in Australia’s sporting future, providing a space to inspire participation, nurture talent, and deliver enduring health, social, and economic benefits.
We are honoured to collaborate with Australia’s peak aquatic sports organisations, with the support of the Australian Olympic Committee, Paralympics Australia, and World Aquatics, to bring this transformative project to life.
