A vision focused master plan to guide development during a period of expected change and growth.

The Caloundra State High School Master plan presents a bold, dynamic vision that will guide the school through to its centenary in 2064. Built upon a foundation of community-centered values, this Masterplan envisions the school as a beacon of excellence with strong ties to both the Caloundra and broader Sunshine Coast communities.

Leveraging the school’s enviable coastal location, Archipelago’s innovative and forward-thinking approach has identified key opportunities for the school to adapt to its environmental and economic context. This long-term vision aims to establish the school as the school of choice in the Sunshine Coast region while fostering both economic and social benefits.

Through a series of master planning studies and workshops with key stakeholders, Archipelago analysed the existing Department of Education masterplan, uncovering opportunities and addressing potential issues. Alternative strategies were developed to enhance the school’s connection to the community, including the identification of potential keyworker housing, an international student centre, a new learning precinct, and the expansion of the Trade Training Centre.

The Master Plan includes several strategic moves designed to revitalise the campus. A new learning precinct will be created, with views of the oval—referred to as the "green heart"—and anchored by a relocated school entrance. By shifting the administration building to Bower Street, the entry to the school will be repositioned to amore central and accessible location, creating a new entry plaza with clear views to the oval. A new knowledge corridor will connect the campus and improve accessibility and wayfinding across the school.

As part of this vision, Archipelago also developed a concept design for a new Multipurpose Hall and Performing Arts Centre. Positioned along the street-facing frontage, this facility will serve as a key piece of infrastructure, enhancing the school’s engagement with the community and amplifying its presence along Bower Street.

This Master Plan offers a compelling long-term vision for Caloundra State High School, ensuring its continued growth and strengthened community ties well into the future
