Creative interim activations to support the opening of a major university campus
The Mill at Moreton Bay is a major regeneration project bringing new education, commercial, workplace and recreational opportunities to Petrie and the broader Moreton Bay Region. Featuring a foundation University of Sunshine Coast Building as the major inception site anchor, the Mill represents a major investment by Moreton Bay Council and the Federal and State Governments in the education and technological future of the region.
As a project with a rich iterative history, the Mill is the product of a number of collaborations between Council and Consultant designers across many years. In January 2019 Archipelago was asked by MBRC to undertake a strategic review of the Urban Design and Landscape Architectural health of the Master Plan. Our design team proposed a suite of well received strategic interventions that setup a strong urban framework whilst concurrently embracing the opportunity to create a knowledge precinct anchored by USC and embedding block arrangements allowing sensible staging and land release.
Building upon the Master Plan review the Archipelago team is developing an updated Master Plan while also developing a Public Art Guideline and creative interim activations to support the opening of the USC campus within the broader Mill development.
